A gravatar, or globally recognized avatar, is quite simply an avatar image that follows you from weblog to weblog appearing beside your name when you comment on gravatar enabled sites. Avatars help identify your posts on web forums, so why not on weblogs?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So how does it work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

To get this working you need two basic things in place:<\/p>\n

1. A gravatar account where you upload your image. You do this at the official gravatar website<\/a>.<\/li>\n
2. A blog, CMS or forum software that is set up to use gravatars.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

   Getting your gravatar working:<\/strong><\/p>\n

   Go to the gravatar signup page<\/a> and upload your image. The system is simple really – you upload an image (that will be your gravatar) and you associate your image with your email address.<\/p>\n

   … Now, whenever you enter your email address when you post a comment on a blog or forum that is set up to handle gravatars, your gravatar image will appear. Cool.<\/p>\n
