There are a couple things you can do...

-- make sure you are compressing the image sizes as much as possible, reducing both the physical size of the image (pixel size) and file size (kilobytes). Programs like Photoshop or Paintshop Pro will allow you to adjust the quality

-- use the correct file formats when saving images. If you are saving photos or images with gradients, use JPG. If you are saving images with limited color or a few flat colors, go with GIF.

-- Adjust your design so it fits on a 1042x768 resolution screen. Your current site is built for larger than that, which leads to larger pictures than necessary, meaning that the images that the visitor is downloading are both large and take longer to download, and also that the user has to scroll horizontally in order to see your full site. I'm on a bit of an older computer at the moment, at 1042x768, and I have to scroll.
