Designing a directory on my site
I want to create a directory where visitors can come to a submit form, fill in the criteria, choose what category or subcategory they want to be in and then submit for approval. Then once, approved they get listed.

For example, athletes at my school, a short description of themselves (one or two lines), what sport categories and sub categories i,e. Basketball > Senior Boys Team

Then when approved they get listed with a small link a description to their own website. and then I would probably later ahve a logo that links back to the directory, but the logo link i can do myself.

I've been doing some html over the past month, but mainly in simple website design. I'm really new and I don't need a handout, but would prefer being pointed in the right direction, i.e. what systems should I work with (should I use a database), what should I read into/research, and any other advice you could offer.

Thanks a lot in advance

Re: Designing a directory on my site
There are lots of directory scripts available online. But, many of them will be for website link or company directories, so you may be able to modify one for your needs.

regardless if you use a pre built script or build one yourself, you'll need a way to store the information using a database, like mysql, or a flat file.
