Photos loading? My first attempt at a website...www.TheInquisitiveeye.com What can I do to get the photos to load faster. How do I change the size, pixels, whatever. Be kind. I am learning... |

There are a couple things you can do... -- make sure you are compressing the image sizes as much as possible, reducing both the physical size of the image (pixel size) and file size (kilobytes). Programs like Photoshop or Paintshop Pro will allow you to adjust the quality -- use the correct file formats when saving images. If you are saving photos or images with gradients, use JPG. If you are saving images with limited color or a few flat colors, go with GIF. -- Adjust your design so it fits on a 1042x768 resolution screen. Your current site is built for larger than that, which leads to larger pictures than necessary, meaning that the images that the visitor is downloading are both large and take longer to download, and also that the user has to scroll horizontally in order to see your full site. Re: Photos loading? I think falken hit the nail dead on the head, but I would like to add I know alot of people dont have adobe or paint pro there are alot of free picture editing programs online you can use, one I used to use just to fix up pictures and clean them up was snapfish.com |
