Hi I am thinking of starting web design professionally in the future, I have made several web sites for my other businesses and for fun. I can write a bit of php and mysql, plus html. At present I am creating a couple of ecommerce site scripts to sell as an experiment really, 1) ecommerce where the products, categories are mysql driven, but using paypals shopping cart. 2) ecommerce where the products, categories are mysql driven, with on site shopping cart, which is then transfered to Paypal as one payment, then ipn to update the database entry for that order. I need a little help with Paypal IPN on the second version; I want to pass a variable eg $orderid to paypal which I can do quite easilly, however the script that deals with the ipn, how do i retrieve $orderid from paypal so i can update the record set where the id is equal to $orferid? I can do this when passing the variable from one page to another on my server but don't really get the ipn script or the demo by paypal.
