Hello all, Just thought I'd throw this out there, in case anyone had comments before I start coding in the next few days... Just a redesign to my current website (which, at least in my opinion, badly needs it. ) Not promoting my site (lol, I have entirely too much work as it is), just looking for feedback.Any comments on any areas of the design that might need work? Any parts that seem awkward? Color or font/readability issues? Three quick comments of my own... 1. Obviously, these files are just centered JPG images -- they aren't intended to work in any way. 2. Secondly, I realize that the background image and the mockup on my subpage don't quite match up, so that will get fixed when I start coding. 3. Lastly, the footer area at the bottom of the mockup (that includes the footer navigation and my copyright message) will "stick" to the bottom of the browser window once it's finished being coded. http://www.falkencreative.com/forum/home.html http://www.falkencreative.com/forum/subpage.html ---------------------------------------- Benjamin Falk | student : designer : developer Twitter: falkencreative ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by falkencreative at Nov 10, 2008 10:00:33 PM] |

Hi Ben I really like it! I like the subpage the best. I don't know...it doesn't feel cluttered and there's a good amount of white space. Though I like the home page, I kind of feel like it's got a little too much going on. I hate to even say that, though, because I honestly think it looks great. Well done! I'm redesigning my site again, but wow, it doesn't even compare! lol ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Susie at Nov 10, 2008 5:00:48 PM] |

Ben, loks good. My eye is drawn immediately to the Red content area in the middle - right side of both versions. - not a goo dor bad thinkg, just an observation.... I'd like a little more left side space between the left col and main content area. It will provide a bit more negative space and help draw the eye back to the left again and be easier to read. ---------------------------------------- "The art of life lies in a constant readjustment to our surroundings." -Okakura Kakuzo Save the developers<!> Maine Webworks |

On one of the pages specifically, or in both? Thelma mentioned that I may want to declutter the home page a bit, and I'll have to see what I can do. Adding a bit more white space probably would help the home page design. ---------------------------------------- Benjamin Falk | student : designer : developer Twitter: falkencreative |

On one of the pages specifically, or in both? I think it would have to be for both templates maybe another 20px of white space on the left margin of the text. ---------------------------------------- "The art of life lies in a constant readjustment to our surroundings." -Okakura Kakuzo Save the developers<!> Maine Webworks |

So, increasing the left margin on the main body of text? (the pink area in the modified mockup): http://www.falkencreative.com/forum/subpage-edit.jpg Or also increasing the right margin on the sidebar area? ---------------------------------------- Benjamin Falk | student : designer : developer Twitter: falkencreative |

OK, I played with it some more, tweaking the positioning of some elements. Susie, Shelfimage, do you think this helps fix the spacing issues, especially on the home page? http://www.falkencreative.com/forum/home.html http://www.falkencreative.com/forum/subpage.html ...on a completely unrelated note, I've decided to actually attempt to use my twitter account... so I themed my twitter page too: http://twitter.com/falkencreative. ---------------------------------------- Benjamin Falk | student : designer : developer Twitter: falkencreative ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by falkencreative at Nov 10, 2008 10:38:35 PM] |
