Hi, Given the recent crash in the credit markets, I was wondering what freelance web designers are seeing? Are the jobs still coming in? Stefan ---------------------------------------- Stefan Mischook Video Tutorial Store | Web Templates |

Of course, I don't freelance full time, but I'm actually getting more business than ever at the moment, to the point where I almost always seem to have a little too much to do. Mostly seems to be the result of networking and being active both online and offline talking about what I do... It could also be that some people are taking more time to consider smaller web design firms (i.e. me) since there's a better chance that I'll charge lower prices than a larger agency. However, the larger web design agency I work for is definitely seeing a slowdown... More people are paying with credit cards, reducing the scope of their project to cut costs, or extending the project over larger periods of time. The financial, automotive and real estate markets seem pretty hard hit at the moment. ---------------------------------------- Benjamin Falk | student : designer : developer Twitter: falkencreative |

Interesting ... and something I figured would happen. Yes, I think now is a great chance to establish a new web design business, either full time or on the side. ... That why I created my Business of Web Design podcast series to help people get started. Btw, did anyone find use out of the podcast? Or did I just put you all to sleep? ![]() ---------------------------------------- Stefan Mischook Video Tutorial Store | Web Templates |

Most of my work has been from other developers outsourcing and so I have seen a slow down there but then I am seeing more potential work direct from individual customers. And you are right, it looks like a good time to get into web site design business. For those of us already in business, it looks like most of us picked a fine time to rebuild our own sites. ---------------------------------------- Success is based on how much you spend. I'm doing alright. I have 4 open projects and 1 waiting in the wings. The thing is, all the open projects are only still open because the clients haven't given me their stuff so I can finish their sites! |

I don't have a stack of new projects but still too busy with current projects to mind too much. Most of my work is from other agencies and I've been hearing that things are slowing down a bit for them. I have a few small business clients that need regular maintenance type of work and few that are waiting to see what happens after the new year before moving forward with new projects. ---------------------------------------- "The art of life lies in a constant readjustment to our surroundings." -Okakura Kakuzo Save the developers<!> Maine Webworks |
