Looking for e-commerce naked/stark layout that is easy to convert to my design

I have a layout/look of my site and now want to add functionality to ecommerce site. Dose anyone know if there is a e commerce solution that: one does not use tables, two is customizable, and three is not just a change color type of template. I Have been trying to use oscommerce (ripping out tables replacing with divs) but have found this frustrating/difficult. Tried Zen cart but find it hard to figure out what files to edit. I like the feel and functionality of pinnacle cart but it dose not seem really customizable.

What I want to be able to do is take my design and add features of ecommerce to my site...I want a naked/stark layout that is easy to convert to my design. I want to function of the code but the freedom of design/look. I don't want to be a guru of php and mysql

--add search div/box to where I want it
--click this link and products or categories opens

Does anybody know of product or even a developer that does this? I willing to spend $1000-$3000. I don't want to pay monthly.
Any Suggestions?

Re: Looking for e-commerce naked/stark layout that is easy to convert to my design

I don't think there is hardly any good ecommerce software that are tableless. A good software will allow you to integrate a header/footer within a product store. That header/footer can be tableless and designed to your specs. The store itself (that handles the products, checkout, registration) is mostly done in tables but valid code.

I use Product Cart for the most part which is a high end software but it's very flexible, realiable, powerful and most importantly customizable. It's exclusively ASP and so it's limited to Windows Server. However, support is excellent!

If are looking for something a bit easy on your wallet then Lite-Commerce is a good one. This one can be hosted on various types of server with PHP support. It has good support, customization, flexible and pretty powerful for a low budget software.

With both software, you can integrate your original customized design and make it flow seamless from static pages to dynamic pages (product store pages).

As for open source, they are okay for small businesses generating a few grand a month but if you are a serious business owner that is needing a dependable, upgradable, customizable and powerful ecommerce software then you need to look into buying a sofware that is going to do the job well...effectively well.

Both of the above software I support. There are others here that may support one of the mentioned open source software you've listed in your post.

I have just been looking at both Lite-Commerce and Product Cart. Lite-Cart seems not that great.? Product Cart looks great except that it is ASP driven which I assume is not mysql? Do you or any one know of a cart like Product Cart that's PHP? I love PC claim of complete design flexibility.

I just want to insert code here solution. I might be missing something but PC seems to be the only cart that says they do this. If a designer knows code php or asp do they do this with any other program? It would be great if I could look at the carts default page select search bar-or whatever-and include it (just code) in my design?

Does anyone else have ideas?

None that I know of. If the store is the only thing you are going to run then check to see if your host will switch you over from Linux to Windows. Otherwise, find a host that will or you will have to continue your search for a solid software that supports Linux.

As for Lite-Commerce (not Lite-Cart), it's actually pretty good and you have the felixibility to custom design the site to the very last pixel.

okay I agree that Product Cart seems to be the best/flexible cart out there...But it is expensive. (probably worth it)
I could not get the LiteCommerce trail version to install (problems with ioncube)

I ran across another cart called 'Squirrelcart' (sounds like a dumb name) that looks like it is easy to skin...does not cost as much $129-289. Do you know anything about it?

As well across a Firefox Extension called Aardvark[/b. Does anyone know if this extension can be used to 'trace' code so that a person can find the php or asp that relates to certain parts of a shopping cart? Or is this extension just like firebug? does that even make sense?

This extension is just like firebug... it only looks at the code after it is rendered in the browser, so you won't be able to see ASP or PHP (which would be a security risk anyway.)

Re: Looking for e-commerce naked/stark layout that is easy to convert to my design

I could not get the LiteCommerce trail version to install (problems with ioncube)

IonCube is a source code protection engine. IonCube compiles PHP files in encrypted binary format, therefore special loader is needed to run compiled files at your host. All necessary loaders are bundled with the trial demo.

Possible reasons why ionCube is not working at your host:

-ionCube loader not found (You are using MS Windows and LiteCommerce and PHP are located on different logical drives (eg. PHP is installed on disk C: and LiteCommerce on disk D:). To resolve this, move LiteCommerce to the same disk as PHP or put all loader files from the xcart/ioncube directory to the directory defined in the variable extension_dir in php.ini file (c:\php4\extensions\ by default). Also, you can visit the ionCube PHP Loader homepage, download the valid loaders for your system and install them following the instructions, provided by README file in loaders archive)
-Unsupported version of PHP (Currently versions of PHP 4.0.6 - 4.3.x are supported)
-Dynamic loading is disabled at your system (Eg. safe mode is on)
Unsupported operation system (Currently LiteCommerce trial is available for Windows NT/2000/XP, FreeBSD 4&5, Linux Intel, MacOS X, Solaris Sparc)

I ran across another cart called 'Squirrelcart' (sounds like a dumb name) that looks like it is easy to skin...does not cost as much $129-289. Do you know anything about it?

Never heard of them but that doesn't mean they aren't good.

-Dynamic loading is disabled at your system (Eg. safe mode is on)

does this mean that if I am trying to load it in localhost it will not work?

I will try to FTP it to my server and see if I can get this to work...

You will need to check with your local web host provider to see if they support IonCube. Some do not. Some will allow you set the 'safe mode'.
