moving selection to another application

Hello! I am new to Photoshop. When making a selection from a photo and then trying to paste it into another application, how do I paste it without getting that white background? When going from one image to another image I do get just the selection I want. Please advise. Thanks

Re: moving selection to another application

Hi,

You should ave the image as a tiff or a png with the alpha channel in place and open that image up in the other program.

Typically you cannot just cut and paste an image like this from one program to another and expect good results, unless you are working with Photoshop and Illustrator or some other Adobe product.
