Re: to MacRankin about photo editors for Mac

Hi there lm,

I've had a rumage around looking for stuff that might help. It's not much but i guess it's a start, and err, it will give me the opportunity to put my review finding house in order.

This one, i believe only resizes images without much loss it seems, but it doesn't do buttons. It has a drag and drop feature that allows for any amount of resizing to be done.

Sizerox: ($10)

I suppose the one that i'd really like to tryout meself, err, when that is i get myself a Mac with OS X installed, is to try out Graphic Converter. It's something i've used in the past mostly to convert files from one to another. It's bit like a poor man's version of Photoshop Elements. I guess that's another one you could check out.

I'll try to put together something in the way of a review later. It's just that i haven't got any proper file system in place for all my bucket-load of magazines that i've got.

GraphicConverter: ($30)

Re: to MacRankin about photo editors for Mac

I remembered a useful link of some time age that i had on my website, and decided to take a look. Thriftmac have got quite an impressive list of free to use image editors.

There's one or two that need to be steered clear of. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an all dancing and all singing free app amongst them that does everything you require, execpt maybe Expression.

As you probably know Microsoft is pinning great hopes on this becoming an Adobe killer. There's actually a free version to download and keep, but having tried it myself i'm not all that keen on it. Still it is free.

Also check Thriftmac's website out for all your free goodies...

Re: Free Image Editors

Sweet, Very nice resources List.... However, What about Serifs PhotoPlus 6?

It's Serifs totally free licensed version (Not a trial). It's an older version of there paid license, but does a good job just as well. Actuallay bothe Serif PhotoPlus 6 & the SerifDrawPlus 4 are both very good free softwares for image manipulation & graphics design.

PhotoPlus6: http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/software/PhotoPlus/photoplus.asp

DrawPlus 4: http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/software/DrawPlus/default.asp

Of course the newer commercial versions are up to date & have more fetures, but for free, you can't beat them. I used the free drawplus 4 for about 8 months before buying the commercial version (X2). it was that useful for me.

at any rate, just thought I would add 2 more totally free software's to your growing list :)
