Site with 1500 internal links!

Hi webmasters,

I have a site whose design is not up to the mark (means its look is not corporate look). It has atleast 1500 internal links which are spread throughout the whole site.

Following are the some problems which i feel in my site :

1) Earlier the site is designed as a point of SEO.
2) In every page, there are at least 40 links placed in footer. It is appearing very odd.
3) Most of the pages which are linked in footer are not indexed in Google.

Kindly, tell me what are the necessary requirements for good corporate webpage. It should also help in promotion.

Thanks in advance...

Hi,

Are one of the links in your signature supposed to be site that you reference? I don't see 40 links in the footer of either of the sites in your signature.

Please post which site you are referencing.

As for a generalized description of "the necessary requirements for good corporate webpage," they are the same requirements for a good webpage. View, http://webpagesthatsuck.com and you can find some helpful suggestions.

Re: Site with 1500 internal links!

It sounds like you are trying to use an old "black hat" method of spamming the search engines with hidden links to gain a high Google rank.

Well, I'm afraid it won't work - Google will look at this as a method of spam and that is probably why they are not appearing.

Relevant content, incoming and outgoing links to other recognised "safe" web sites and well constructed code will do you a lot better in the long run.

Hope this helps.

Re: Site with 1500 internal links!

It's an anti-spam measure. We were getting a lot of spam within the last few months, so Stef initiated some antispam techniques. You have to have a ceartain number of posts before you are alowed to post hyperlinks. After that, I think yo have to have yet another number of posts to have the rel="nofollow" attribute removed from your links. This discourages spammers because it doesn't do them any good to post here. Ideally, they realize that and move on, unfortunately, most spammers aren't to bright, in which case it gives our moderators time to edit posts without having to be concerned about search engines indexing those links.

A lot of people join forums just to get a link back to thier site to help their seo. This is a "earn your keep" method. Only those who contribute to the forum and help others (since this is an instructional environment) get the privilage of a link from KillerSites.

Re: Site with 1500 internal links!

What you need is a header/footer/template system.

If you're familiar with includes and some kind of scripting language like ASP/PHP that would probably help a lot.

You should also try to make things database driven so you don't have to worry about invalid links and so many files.

You can use something like modrewrite to mask the fact you're using a script eg to hide sitename.com/index.php?section=5&item=9
you could make it appear as sitename.com/section-name/filename.html

You definitely need to find a centralized/standardized way to track and maintain your links.

Thanks, but my site is totally static (full HTML code). Earlier someone is maintining it. And he had put all the internal links in footer for they get indexed and transfer PR throughout the site. Now that site comes to me, and i m bit confused that which link i should remove to make the footer clean.

Please guide me more...
