mp3s...how do they work?

Hi everyone,
I want mp3s on my site, nothing copyrighted, just my own stuff. How does one set up a program like that? Is 250 mb enough space on a website server to make this happen?
Perhaps someone could point me in the right direction for learning this enigmatic language ^^ biggrin

Depends on if you want to downoad them or have them play in a player on the site.

Whatever you do, do not make them auto play, let the user choose to hear your music.

No, i agree that auto plays are terribly annoying. Downloading was what i had in mind.

Re: mp3s...how do they work?

The best way to put your mp3 online is to simply link to the file on the server:

<a href="Sample.mp3">Play MP3</a>

This assumes that you have uploaded the MP3 to the same folder as the HTML page where you have placed the link.

The above method is very flexible. As someone who likes to download podcasts directly, I have set up my browser to ask me each time, if I want the MP3 downloaded or played with WinAmp.

Re: mp3s...how do they work?

Okay, now do I need to designate a player for the mp3, like windows media player or something.
I have the mp3 in the same folder as my html and the link to it, but when I click on it nothing happens.
Did I miss a step? confused
Please excuse me, I'm still very new to this stuff.

There have been a few good threads on this forum regarding embedding media players. Have a read: wink

adding music to my website

Adding "clickable" individual .mp3 files to page?
